Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: Exploring the Future of Foldable Technology

In the world of smartphones, Samsung has always been at the forefront of innovation. With each iteration of their foldable devices, they continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible. The Samsung Z Fold 4 is no exception, promising to redefine the future of foldable technology. In this blog post, we will explore the exciting features, design advancements, and performance upgrades that make the Samsung Z Fold 4 a true game-changer.

Comprehensive Teardown

The Galaxy Z fold 4 flexible inner screen is composed of a variety of thin layers, which makes it impossible to extract it without destroying it, so it’s best to always keep it with the frame. Moreover, Samsung just recently switched to inner AMOLED display replacement without frame but is rarely used due to dents and scratches that can easily be caused from wear and tear. In fact, unless you have a Samsung Servify Care, the limited warranty disqualifies in-warranty screen replacements due dents even if not caused by accidental damage, that is how strict they are.

The device utilizes an improved hinge system that enhances durability and allows for seamless folding and unfolding. Users can effortlessly transition from a compact smartphone to a tablet-sized display, opening up new possibilities for multitasking, productivity, and media consumption. When unfolded, users are treated to an immersive 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, delivering vibrant colors and sharp visuals.

The outer screen glass is inlaid into a metal frame which makes removal without destroying it very difficult, however with enough heat , time and patience, it can be done.

Step 1 : I recommend setting the heating mat between, 90 to 100, over 110 will cause thermal damage. Samsung use a different type of adhesive for the outer screen, isopropyl alcohol does not really nullify nor loosen the adhesive but still helps a bit by creating less friction during the extraction. It’s imperative to use a curved screen disassembler to create an open enclosure then proceed with the plastic card.

Keep in mind that the right side of the screen is also glued with adhesive underneath the LCD layer plus the one on the edge, so make sure you get that one peeled off during the separation or you will end up just removing the glass while the layers will remain stuck onto the frame.

After the outer screen is removed, proceed with the same fashion for the back glass, however, the process will be much easier as the the adhesive is less resistant compared to the outer screen.

Once both of the screens are gone, all of the internal components can be accessed after unscrewing dozens screws.

Performance and Specifications: Under the hood, the Samsung Z Fold 4 is powered by the latest cutting-edge technology. It is equipped with a powerful processor (potentially the Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 or Samsung’s in-house Exynos equivalent) and ample RAM, ensuring smooth performance even during resource-intensive tasks. The device offers generous storage space, allowing users to store their files, apps, and media without limitations.

Step 2: The NFC wireless antenna pad comes out first, which after, you should disconnect the battery and all other connections. You will notice that the Z fold follows pretty much the same concept of the Samsung Notes such as having a main board flex connected to the dock as well as the sub PBA connection.

Two antenna modules are located into the frame, which the upper one has the exact same part number as its predecessor . Connections from the inner screen are acronyms of LMM and UM, which indicates the Lower Foldable Screen and Upper foldable screen respectively.

After taking out all the connections, the main board comes out easily, no thermal paste, same fashion for the outer screen board linked by The UM ribbon cable.

The batteries are held in place with high amounts of adhesive and there are no pull tabs, making battery removal and replacement more of a chore than it needs to be, so I recommend leaving it with frame to enhance the value of the inner screen. One important thing to note is that all Samsung service packs of foldable inner screens comes with pre-installed batteries.

With the Samsung Z Fold 4, the future of foldable technology looks brighter than ever. Its sleek design, enhanced foldable experience, powerful performance, advanced camera system, and intuitive software combine to create a truly remarkable device. Samsung continues to push the boundaries of innovation, bringing us closer to a future where foldable devices seamlessly blend smartphone and tablet functionalities.
