How do I transfer data from my old SSD to New SSD?
- Purchase a compatible SSD: You’ll need to find an SSD that is compatible with your MacBook Air 2015 model. You can find compatible SSDs from our website TEKDEP
- Next, create a backup of your data: Before removing your old SSD, create a backup of your data. You can use the built-in Time Machine backup feature or a third-party backup software.
- Shut down your MacBook Air: Make sure to save your work and shut down your MacBook Air.
- Then, open the MacBook Air: Use a Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the screws from the bottom case of your MacBook Air. Carefully remove the bottom case.
- Remove the old SSD: Locate the old SSD and remove it carefully from its socket.
- Install the new SSD: Insert the new SSD into the socket and secure it in place. Replace the bottom case and screw it back in place.
- Boot up your MacBook Air: Turn on your MacBook Air and hold down the Command + R keys to enter into the Recovery mode.
- Connect the old SSD: Connect your old SSD to your MacBook Air using an external enclosure or adapter.
- Transfer data: From the Recovery mode, select the option to restore from a Time Machine backup or transfer data from a different Mac or volume. Follow the on-screen instructions to transfer your data from the old SSD to the new one.
