How do I replace the display on my MacBook?

1. Power off your MacBook Air A1465 and unplug it from any power source.
2. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws on the bottom case of your MacBook Air A1465.
3. Remove the bottom case and locate the display assembly.
4. Disconnect the display cable from the logic board.
5. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the display assembly in place.
6. Carefully lift the display assembly out of your MacBook Air A1465.
7. Disconnect the display data cable and the backlight cable from the display assembly.
8. Remove the adhesive tape that secures the display panel to the display assembly.
9. Carefully remove the display panel from the display assembly.
10. Install the new display panel and secure it with adhesive tape.
11. Reconnect the display data cable and the backlight cable to the display assembly.
12. Carefully insert the display assembly back into your MacBook Air A1465.
13. Secure the display assembly with the screws.
14. Reconnect the display cable to the logic board.
15. Replace the bottom case and secure it with the screws.
16. Power on your MacBook Air A1465 and check the display.

Required Tools For Apple 11″ MacBook Air, A1465 Family Repairs:

Note: Before you begin, make sure to drain you laptop battery completely by keeping it on till it dies. Then, unplug your power adapter, and disconnect the battery before performing any repair and always wear safety glasses & anti-static nitrile gloves.

1. Pentalobe screwdriver (P5): The bottom case uses a proprietary type of screw called a Pentalobe screw. This type of speciality screwdriver is required in removing the bottom case and begin the repair.
2. Torx screwdriver (T4, T5): Speciality Torx bits are needed to remove the screws that hold the MacBook components such as the I/O Boar, MagSafe, Audio Board, fans, trackpad, Battery and more.
3. Torx screwdriver (T8):  A T8 Torx screwdriver is also needed to remove the screws that hold the LCD Hinges in place, this is needed to remove and replace the LCD assembly on the A1465.
4. Spudger: A spudger is a tool that helps you pry apart parts of the MacBook Pro without damaging them, you’ll need a spudger to disconnect the various cables and connectors inside the 11″ MacBook Air A1465.
5. Tweezers: Some of the connectors inside the MacBook Air A1465 are very small, you’ll need a pair of tweezers to disconnect and reconnect them.

Note:  Disassembling a MacBook Pro can be challenging, it’s important to be very careful to avoid damaging the delicate components inside. If you’re not comfortable performing this type of repair, it’s best to take your MacBook Pro to a professional.
