Important Safety Note:
Before starting any repair, fully drain your MacBook battery by using it until it shuts down. Then, unplug the power adapter and disconnect the battery. Always wear safety glasses and anti-static nitrile gloves to protect yourself and your device.
Essential Tools:
Pentalobe Screwdriver (P5): The bottom case uses proprietary Pentalobe screws. You’ll need this screwdriver to remove all eight screws and begin the repair process.
Suction Cups: After removing the P5 screws, use a suction cup to grip and lift the bottom case safely without causing damage.
Torx Screwdrivers (T3, T4, T5): These specialty Torx bits are required to remove screws securing internal components, including the USB-C board, fans, MagSafe board, LCD cable brackets, audio board, trackpad, and the logic board.
Torx Screwdriver (T8): A T8 Torx is needed to remove the screws holding the LCD hinges. This step is essential for removing or replacing the LCD assembly on the A2779.
Pentalobe Screwdriver (1PL): Use the 1PL screwdriver to remove the tiny screws securing the Wi-Fi module. Note that you must remove the Wi-Fi module before replacing the screen.
Spudger: This tool allows you to carefully pry apart MacBook components without causing damage. Use it to disconnect cables and connectors safely.
Tweezers: The internal connectors are very small, so tweezers are necessary for precise disconnection and reconnection.
Flat Wide Pry Tool: Use this flexible wide tool to separate the battery adhesive from the chassis during battery replacement.
