REPAIR TIME & SKILL LEVEL:
This repair is estimated to take about 2 TO 3 HOURS to complete and is of ADVANCED difficulty, requiring careful handling of internal components and knowledge of disassembly procedures involving multiple screw types and connectors.

STEPS:
Tools You Need
For this repair, you will need a suction cup, a P5 Pentalobe screwdriver, T3, T5, and T8 Torx bits, a PL1 Phillips screwdriver, and a plastic spudger for cable disconnections. It’s also recommended to keep a magnetic mat or tray to organize screws due to the variety of fasteners used.

Remove Bottom Case
- Use a P5 pentalobe screwdriver to remove all screws from the bottom of the MacBook.
- Place a suction cup on the lower case and pull upward to separate it from the chassis.
- Lift and set aside the bottom case to expose internal components.

Disconnect Battery
- Remove the battery cover to access the battery management unit (BMU) flex cable.
- Unplug the BMU cable from the logic board.
- Use a T5 screwdriver to remove the screw securing the main battery connector, then gently bend the cable away to disconnect the battery.

Remove LCD Bracket Screws
- Using a T3 screwdriver, remove two small screws on either side of the LCD connector.
- Remove four additional T3 screws securing the LCD display connector bracket.
- Remove the two black screws securing the retention bar.

Remove Wi-Fi Bracket Screws
- Switch to a T5 bit and unscrew the single screw holding the Wi-Fi cable bracket.
- Use a PL1 Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws on both sides of the Wi-Fi vent module.

Detach Hinge Screws
- Use a T8 screwdriver to remove six screws—three on each side—securing the hinges to the chassis.
- Set the screws aside in an organized way for reassembly.

Disconnect Cables and Modules
- Use a plastic spudger to gently disconnect the Wi-Fi cables from their sockets.
- Disconnect the LCD cable connector from the board.
- Remove the Wi-Fi vent module from the MacBook and set it aside.

Remove Broken LCD
- Open the MacBook and lift the top case upwards and toward you to release the broken LCD.
- Set the damaged display panel aside.

Prepare New LCD
- While the cardboard protector is still on the new LCD, use a P5 pentalobe screwdriver to slightly open the hinges.
- This step minimizes risk of damage in case your tool slips during handling.

Install New LCD
- Insert the LCD connection ribbons through the hinge cutouts and into the top case.
- Align the hinges with their slots and close the top case down into place.
- Fully close the hinges and secure them using the six T8 screws removed earlier.

Reconnect Wi-Fi and Display Cables
- Insert and align the Wi-Fi vent module and begin threading antenna cables through their cutouts.
- Use four T5 screws (black ones) to secure the LCD and Wi-Fi bracket to the top case.
- Plug in the LCD display connector and secure it with the retention bracket using T3 screws.

Reinstall Hinge Covers
- Slide the hinge covers into place on both sides.
- Secure them with the T3 screws removed earlier.

Reinstall Wi-Fi Vent Screws
- Using the PL1 screwdriver, reinstall the numerous screws on both sides that hold the Wi-Fi vent module in place.

Reconnect Battery
- Use a T5 screwdriver to reinstall the screw securing the battery’s connection to the logic board.
- Plug the battery management flex cable back into its port.

Power Test and Final Inspection
- Power on the MacBook and check for an Apple logo on the screen.
- Inspect display functionality and image quality.
- Review the old LCD and note the physical damage, including chew marks from the client’s dog.

CONCLUSION:
This repair successfully replaced a heavily damaged LCD on a MacBook Pro A2159. Every internal component was carefully removed and reinstalled with attention to cable routing and screw placement. The newly installed display functions perfectly, and the machine powers on as expected. Attention to detail at each step ensures both safety and performance.
