HP Victus 15.6″ 15-FA0031DX Teardown Guide – Step-by-Step Disassembly Instructions
OVERVIEW:
In this repair guide, we’ll walk you through the complete teardown and screen replacement process for the HP Victus laptop. This in-depth tutorial covers everything from removing the bottom cover to detaching internal components and finally removing the screen. HP designed this model with hidden hinges and deeply embedded components, making screen repairs a bit more time-consuming than average. By following each detailed step, you’ll learn how to safely access and remove all necessary components for successful repairs. Let’s get started.
REPAIR TIME & SKILL LEVEL:
This repair is estimated to take about 2 to 3 HOURS to complete and is of ADVANCED difficulty, requiring careful handling of delicate ribbon cables, removal of multiple internal components, and patient disassembly of embedded hardware.

STEPS:
Tools You Need
For this repair, you will need a flat-edged prying tool (non-sharp), a Phillips screwdriver, and a spudger. Additional tools such as tweezers may help with ribbon cables, and plastic cards are helpful for detaching adhesive-bound components. Keep your toolset handy and organized throughout the process.

Remove the Bottom Cover
- Flip the HP Victus over to access the underside of the laptop.
- Use a narrow flat-edged prying tool to slide between the top and bottom casing.
- Work your way along the seam gently but firmly to release the tight clips holding the bottom cover in place.

Disconnect and Remove the Battery
- Locate the battery connector and slide it out using your fingers.
- Slightly lift the battery to ensure it doesn’t slide back into place.
- Remove the screws securing the battery to the chassis with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Lift the battery straight out and set it aside.

Remove the RAM, SSD, and Network Card
- Start with the RAM by pulling apart the metal pins; the stick will pop up and can be pulled out.
- Unscrew and remove the SSD by pulling it out of its M.2 slot.
- Lift the plastic cover above the network card and gently disconnect the two antenna cables.
- Unscrew and remove the network card similarly to the SSD.

Disconnect the Ribbon Cables from the Motherboard
- Lift the small black retention bars on the ribbon cable connectors.
- Carefully pull the cables straight out from the motherboard.
- Repeat this for each ribbon cable on both sides of the board, using a spudger if needed.

Disconnect the Heat Sink and Fan Assembly
- Unclip the cable tucked under another cable near the fan — this may take a bit of wiggling.
- Unscrew all six screws holding the fan and heat sink assembly.
- Gently lift the heat sink and fans together — don’t remove completely yet.
- Disconnect the fan power cables from the motherboard before fully removing the assembly.

Remove the Speakers
- Disconnect both left and right speaker cables from the motherboard.
- Peel the adhesive holding the cables in place and pull the connectors out gently.
- Lift out each speaker individually — the right speaker may loop around the motherboard and needs extra care.

Remove Additional Internal Boards
- Remove the charging connector after unscrewing and lifting the metal cowling.
- Unscrew and remove the USB and auxiliary board located nearby.
- Peel off the plastic cover on the screw holding down the mainboard (may not be present in all units).

Disconnect the Display Cable
- Lift the final black retention bar securing the display connector to the motherboard.
- Pull the connector out gently to fully free the motherboard.

Remove the Motherboard
- Unscrew all remaining screws securing the motherboard.
- Carefully lift the motherboard out of the laptop frame, which includes the soldered CPU and GPU.

Begin Display Disassembly – Expose Hinges
- Remove the plastic hinge cover that is adhered over the left hinge.
- Unscrew the four hinge screws on each side using a Phillips screwdriver.

Detach the Display Antenna Cables
- Locate the antenna cables that were previously connected to the network card.
- Uncover any areas where the cable is routed under plastic flaps.
- Lift the cables gently and reposition them for full screen separation.

Remove the Display Support Bar
- Flip the unit upright and partially open the screen to give hinge clearance.
- Unscrew the bar running along the screen bottom — it’s clipped in as well as screwed.
- Carefully pop the bar out by lifting the sides, then work toward the middle until it’s fully released.

Remove the Screen Assembly
- Open the hinge more fully to allow the screen to separate from the bottom case.
- Gently lift the screen away from the keyboard base to complete the teardown.

CONCLUSION:
That wraps up the full teardown and screen removal for the HP Victus laptop. As you’ve seen, this repair requires disassembling several layers of internal components, from the battery to the display hinges. Patience and careful handling are key, especially around ribbon cables and adhesive components. Take your time and follow each step closely to complete the repair safely and successfully. Once done, reverse the steps to reassemble.
