Whether you’re a technician or a DIY enthusiast, follow this guide to complete a flawless repair.

REPAIR TIME & SKILL LEVEL:

This repair is estimated to take about 1-2 hours to complete and is of ADVANCED difficulty, requiring precision and careful handling of delicate components.

STEPS:

Tools You Need

You’ll need a pentalobe screwdriver, Philips screwdriver, spudger, prying tool, fine-tip tweezers, heating mat (set to 75-85°C), guitar pick, and a screen disassembler tool. These tools will help you safely open the device and transfer the necessary components.

Remove the Pentalobe Screws

  • Begin by removing the two Pentalobe screws at the bottom of the phone.
  • These screws are located on either side of the charging port.
  • Keep them in a safe place to avoid misplacing them during the repair.

Heat the Screen

  • Set your heating mat to a temperature range of 75–85°C (167–185°F).
  • Let the phone sit on the heating mat for 3 to 5 minutes to loosen the adhesive.
  • Proper heating ensures a smoother and safer screen removal process.

Pry Open the Screen

  • Start prying from the bottom right corner of the phone using a prying tool.
  • Avoid prying on the left side initially, as the screen flex cables are located there.
  • Once a gap is created, insert a guitar pick to gently slide and cut through the adhesive around the frame.

Separate the Screen from the Body

  • Carefully lift the screen without applying pressure to the left side.
  • Gently tilt the screen open like a book to prevent tension on the flex cables.
  • Position the screen so that it remains stable while working on the internals.

Remove Internal Screws and Plates

  • Unscrew the Tri-Wing screws securing the metal plates at the top and bottom of the internal layout.
  • Use a spudger to carefully remove the metal plates.
  • Set aside the plates and screws systematically for easy reassembly.

Disconnect the Flex Cables

  • Use a spudger to disconnect the two main LCD flex cables from the logic board.
  • Handle the cables gently to avoid tearing or damaging them.
  • Make sure the screen is supported while detaching the connectors.

Remove the Face ID Flex Cable

  • Unscrew the retention plate securing the Face ID cable using a Philips screwdriver.
  • Place the screen back on the heating mat briefly if needed to soften the adhesive.
  • Pry gently underneath the flex cable using a spudger, then switch to a fine-tip tweezer to carefully lift it off.

Install the Face ID Cable to the New LCD

  • Align the Face ID cable to the new screen’s molded housing.
  • No new adhesive is needed as the existing glue is sufficient.
  • Secure the flex cable with the original retention plate using a Philips screwdriver.

Reconnect and Secure LCD Flex Cables

  • Reconnect the two LCD flex cables to the logic board using a spudger.
  • Ensure they click firmly into place.
  • Reinstall the metal plates using the Tri-Wing screws to hold the connectors in position.

Seal and Close the Screen

  • Align the new screen starting from the left edge where the flex cables are located.
  • Press the screen gently around the edges, ensuring a snug fit without forcing it.
  • Reinstall the two Pentalobe screws at the bottom to finalize the repair.

CONCLUSION:

Replacing the screen on an iPhone 15 Plus requires patience, precision, and attention to the delicate components inside the phone. With proper heating and tool usage, you can safely remove the broken LCD and transfer important parts like the Face ID module. Take care when handling flex cables and always double-check alignment before sealing the screen. Completing this repair successfully can restore full function and appearance to your iPhone. Be sure to test everything thoroughly before returning the phone to the user.
