Lenovo Slim 7i Teardown & Disassembly – Inside Look, Battery Removal Tips & Repair Guide
OVERVIEW:
In this teardown guide, we’ll walk you through the complete disassembly of the Lenovo Slim 7. This tutorial includes everything from removing the back cover to detaching the display. The process involves careful handling of various internal components including the battery, SSD, Wi-Fi card, motherboard, and speakers. This guide is ideal for users looking to perform repairs or part replacements on their Lenovo Slim 7 laptop. Follow each step closely to ensure a safe and successful disassembly.
REPAIR TIME & SKILL LEVEL:
This repair is estimated to take about 1 to 1.5 HOURS to complete and is of INTERMEDIATE difficulty, requiring careful handling of delicate internal components and a moderate understanding of laptop hardware.

STEPS:
Tools You Need
For this repair, you will need a T4 screwdriver for the back plate, a plastic wedging tool for prying open the case and components, a Phillips screwdriver for internal screws, and your fingernails or a plastic tool to safely disconnect the SSD and Wi-Fi card. It’s also helpful to have isopropyl alcohol for loosening adhesive and a heating mat is optional but not required for this disassembly.
Remove the Back Plate
- Use a T4 screwdriver to remove all screws from the back plate of the laptop.
- Insert a plastic wedging tool between the case seam on the right-hand side and gently glide along the edge until the tabs begin to pop open.
- Repeat the same process along the bottom edge to fully detach the back cover.

Disconnect the Battery
- Locate the battery cable and gently lift the pull tab.
- Pull the cable out from the tape side to safely disconnect the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to fully discharge any residual power in the unit.

Remove the Battery
- Unscrew the battery screws and lift the battery up using the small straps on either side.
- Carefully pull the battery out and set it aside in a safe location.

Disconnect SSD and Remove It
- Unscrew the SSD retaining screw to loosen it.
- Use a wedging tool to gently lift the SSD and adhesive plastic bracket.
- Using both hands and your fingernails, slide the SSD out evenly to avoid damage.

Disconnect Wi-Fi Card
- Use a plastic tool to pop off the two Wi-Fi antenna cables.
- Unscrew the retaining screw on the Wi-Fi module.
- Use your fingernail to lift and pull the Wi-Fi card out gently from the slot.

Disconnect Flex Cables and Fan Cables
- Unplug all flex cables connected to the main board and sideboard, as well as the left and right fan cables.
- Gently lift the protective latches on each cable connector before pulling out the ribbon cables.
- Be very delicate with these as they are fragile and can break easily.

Remove Heat Sink and Phillips Screws
- Remove all Phillips screws from the motherboard using a small Phillips head screwdriver.
- For the heat sink screws, unscrew them at an angle to avoid putting pressure on the CPU or GPU chips.
- Lift out the heat sink and fans once all screws are removed.

Disconnect Speaker Cables
- Gently pull the small speaker cable on the left side out from its connector.
- Repeat this step for the right speaker cable using gentle prying motions.

Remove the Motherboard
- Once all cables and screws are removed, gently pry the motherboard upward from one edge.
- Loosen any cable tension still holding the board down and slowly lift the motherboard out of the chassis.

Remove the Daughterboard
- Locate the daughterboard on the left side of the device.
- Release tension from the bracket and gently lift it until it pops free from its position.

Remove the Speakers
- Use your plastic tool to carefully pry up the speakers from their resting slots in the chassis.
- Take care not to damage the wires as you remove them from each corner of the case.

Detach the LCD Display from the Case
- Extend the display hinges as far as they go to loosen the screen.
- Bend back the bottom case slowly until it separates from the LCD screen assembly.
- Once the hinges are fully extended and tension is released, the LCD panel will come free.

CONCLUSION:
You’ve now successfully disassembled the Lenovo Slim 7 from top to bottom. Each step requires a steady hand and a bit of patience, especially around the flex cables and motherboard. Be sure to keep all screws and parts organized to make reassembly easier. This guide should give you confidence to replace internal components or perform upgrades on your own. Remember to reverse these steps carefully to reassemble your device.
