REPAIR TIME & SKILL LEVEL:

This repair is estimated to take about 1.5 HOURS to complete and is of INTERMEDIATE difficulty, requiring careful handling of adhesive components and delicate connectors.

STEPS

Tools You Need

For this repair, you will need a T5 Torx screwdriver for all screws, a plastic pry tool for removing the bezel, and a pair of tweezers or small pliers to handle adhesive tabs and connectors. You may also use a plastic card to assist in lifting the LCD panel safely.

Remove the Bottom Cover

  • Use a T5 Torx screwdriver to remove the 10 screws securing the bottom panel.
  • Note that the screws on the outward-facing sides are angled slightly into the frame.
  • Carefully lift and remove the bottom panel to expose the internal components.

Disconnect the Battery

  • Locate the battery connector inside the laptop.
  • Gently pull the connector backwards to disconnect the battery.
  • This step is crucial to ensure there is no power running through the device during the repair.

Flip the Laptop Upright

  • Turn the laptop back over to access the screen.
  • Open the display lid fully so the screen is easily reachable.
  • Prepare your pry tools for bezel removal.

Remove the Screen Bezel

  • Insert a plastic pry tool between the bezel and the screen.
  • Gently work your way around the edges to pop the aluminum bezel off.
  • Don’t worry about scratching the broken screen, as it will be replaced.

Detach the Bezel Completely

  • Carefully pull the bezel away from the screen assembly.
  • Set it aside safely for reinstallation later.
  • Ensure the rubber lip remains intact for proper alignment during reassembly.

Locate LCD Adhesive Pull Tabs

  • Look for two adhesive pull tabs located at the bottom of the LCD.
  • These tabs are part of the adhesive holding the LCD to the frame.
  • Grab the tabs with tweezers or small pliers to begin removing the adhesive.

Remove the Adhesive

  • Slowly pull the adhesive strips out; they should stretch and release from underneath the screen.
  • If the adhesive tears, gently slide a pry tool under the LCD to loosen it.
  • Work around the perimeter to fully release the screen from the frame.

Free the LCD Panel

  • Once the adhesive is released, carefully lift the LCD away from the frame.
  • Take care not to damage the webcam cable running above the screen.
  • Tilt the panel forward to expose the display cable connection.

Disconnect the Display Cable

  • Locate the display cable connector on the back of the screen.
  • Lift the small latch securing the cable.
  • Slide the cable out to fully disconnect the damaged screen.

Prepare the New Screen

  • Unbox the new replacement LCD screen.
  • Make sure the new screen has adhesive applied or prepare adhesive strips for installation.
  • Remove the protective film from the adhesive if pre-applied.

Connect the New Display Cable

  • Align the display cable with the connector on the new screen.
  • Slide the cable into place and secure it by closing the latch.
  • Double-check the connection to ensure it is secure.

Install the New LCD Panel

  • Carefully position the new screen into the frame.
  • Press gently around the edges to ensure the adhesive bonds properly.
  • Keep the protective film on the screen until the bezel is installed.

Reinstall the Bezel

  • Align the bezel with the screen, ensuring it fits into the rubber lip around the display.
  • Snap it into place by pressing gently around all edges.
  • Remove the plastic protective film from the new screen.

Reconnect the Battery

  • Flip the laptop back over to access the internal components.
  • Reconnect the battery by sliding the connector back into place.
  • Ensure it is fully seated for proper power delivery.

Secure the Bottom Cover

  • Place the bottom cover back onto the laptop.
  • Reinsert all 10 screws using the T5 Torx screwdriver.
  • Tighten screws in an opposite corner pattern to ensure even pressure.

Power On and Test the Screen

  • Flip the laptop over and open the lid.
  • Power on the device to check the new screen.
  • Verify that the display is functioning correctly with no issues.

You’ve successfully replaced the screen on your Razer Blade 15” Advanced 2019 model.
