In this guide, we’ll walk you through the complete battery and trackpad replacement for the Razer Blade 15.6″ laptop, model RZ09-0369E92. This particular unit came in with a severely swollen battery that not only affected the performance but also damaged the trackpad. In addition to replacing the battery and trackpad, we’ll also clean the fans and reapply thermal paste to ensure optimal thermal performance. Follow each step carefully to restore your device back to top condition.

This repair is estimated to take about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and is of INTERMEDIATE difficulty, requiring careful handling of delicate components and a full teardown of the device.

STEPS:
Tools You Need
For this repair, you will need a T5 screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a plastic spudger for safe prying, isopropyl alcohol for cleaning, a microfiber cloth, and thermal paste for reapplying to the CPU and GPU.

Remove the Bottom Case
- Flip the laptop over and use a T5 screwdriver to remove all screws around the bottom perimeter.
- Note that two screws may already be missing if the battery is swollen, as seen in this example.
- Pry the bottom cover off carefully to expose the internals.
Disconnect and Remove the Battery
- Peel off the tape covering the battery connector and unplug it from the motherboard.
- Unscrew the battery using a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Detach the tape securing the 2.5” SATA cable to the battery before lifting the battery out.
Inspect Battery Damage
- Notice the severe battery swelling, which has caused physical pressure on the trackpad.
- Understand that replacing the battery is mandatory to avoid further damage.

Disconnect the SATA Port and Display Connectors
- Unplug the SATA port on the left side of the board.
- Disconnect the LCD display connector, Wi-Fi antennas, and the charging port cable.
- Remove cable management tapes and release all cables from hooks.

Disconnect Cooling Fans and Speakers
- Unplug both left and right cooling fan cables.
- Disconnect both the left and right speaker connectors.

Disconnect Webcam and Trackpad Cables
- Disconnect the webcam and microphone cable.
- Unplug the trackpad cable and the keyboard cable connected to the bottom daughterboard.

Remove the SSD and Wi-Fi Card
- Unscrew and remove the SSD, placing the screw back in the standoff to avoid losing it.
- Remove the Wi-Fi card and secure its screw back to the standoff.
Remove the Heatsink Screws
- Peel off the rubber covers on the heatsink screws.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the heatsink screws in the numbered order for safe removal.

Remove Logic Board and Fans
- Unscrew remaining screws holding the logic board in place.
- Carefully lift the logic board, noting that it may be stuck due to thermal pads.
- Remove the cooling fans for cleaning.
Remove the Trackpad
- Switch to a PH00 screwdriver and remove six top screws securing the trackpad.
- Disconnect the keyboard and backlight cables.
- Remove four small screws and one large center screw securing the trackpad.
- Push the trackpad out through the top of the case.
Install the New Trackpad
- Insert the new trackpad through the top side, aligning it with the standoffs.
- Secure it starting from the top screws working inside out, then install the bottom screws and the center switch screw.
- Reconnect the keyboard and trackpad cables.

Clean the Top Case
- Use 99% isopropyl alcohol with a microfiber cloth or paper towel to clean dust and residue from the top case.

Clean and Reapply Thermal Paste
- Remove the heatsink from the logic board.
- Clean old thermal paste from the CPU, GPU, and heatsink using isopropyl alcohol with Q-tips or paper towels.
- Apply fresh thermal paste evenly on the CPU and GPU surfaces.

Clean the Cooling Fans
- Use tweezers to remove dust buildup from the fan blades and filters.
- Brush the fan blades and surrounding areas thoroughly.
- Tap around the fan edges to dislodge hidden dust.

Reinstall the Logic Board
- Place the charging port back into its slot first.
- Carefully align and set the logic board into place, starting from the left side.
- Secure the bracket that holds the LCD display connector, Wi-Fi antennas, and charging port.

Reconnect Cables and Install Fans
- Plug in the speakers, charging port, LCD display connector, webcam, and microphone cables.
- Secure the logic board screws (avoid fan screws for now).
- Reinstall the cooling fans and plug in their connectors.
Reinstall Wi-Fi Card, SSD, and Daughterboard Cables
- Insert the Wi-Fi card and reconnect the antenna cables.
- Plug in the LED cable and the left-side fan connector.
- Install the SSD back into place.
- Connect the trackpad and keyboard daughterboard cables.

Install the SATA Bracket and Battery
- Secure the 2.5” SATA bracket and reconnect the SATA cable.
- Position the new battery into place, screw it in, route the cable, and connect it.
Close the Bottom Case
- Lay the bottom cover back onto the laptop.
- Secure it with the T5 screws you removed at the beginning.
- Flip the laptop over and power it on to confirm functionality of the trackpad, keyboard, and battery charging.
