REPAIR TIME & SKILL LEVEL:

This repair is estimated to take about 1 to 2 hours to complete and is of ADVANCED difficulty, requiring precise handling of adhesive, fragile components, and flex cables.

STEPS:

Tools You Need

For this repair, you will need a heat gun, a preheat mat set to 90°F, a suction cup holder, B7000 glue adhesive, a plastic card for safe glass removal, isopropyl alcohol (99% proof), and double-sided 3M tape.

Prepare the Heat Mat

  • Set your heat mat to 90°F, no higher.
  • Because the tablet is 14 inches and the mat is smaller (around 12.9”), alternate the device’s position.
  • Let the tablet warm up for a full 10 minutes to properly soften the adhesive under the screen.

Apply Isopropyl Alcohol to the Edges

  • After heating, flip the tablet and begin applying 99% isopropyl alcohol around the screen’s perimeter.
  • Focus on the corners to help loosen adhesive and make separation easier.
  • Allow a few seconds for the alcohol to seep in and break down glue layers.

Use the Suction Cup to Begin Lifting

  • Attach the suction cup holder to one side of the screen—preferably a corner where lifting is easier.
  • Pull gently to create a small gap between the display and the frame.
  • Avoid pulling too hard to prevent flexing or cracking the glass.

Insert the Plastic Card

  • Once a small opening forms, slide the plastic card into the gap created.
  • Work slowly and keep the card shallow to avoid hitting internal components.
  • Begin cutting through the adhesive along the edges using controlled motion.

Navigate Thin Bezel Areas Carefully

  • The LCD panel sits extremely close to the bezel on this device.
  • Stretch your hand slightly while maneuvering the card to stay beneath the adhesive.
  • Never insert the card too deep—this could cause damage or lines on the LCD.

Work Around Steel Island Tape

  • Underneath the screen are strips of steel “Island tape” that hold the LCD in place.
  • Use the plastic card to slowly pry beneath these strips without pulling too fast.
  • Any friction or abrupt movement could permanently damage the screen.

Fully Detach the LCD Panel

  • Once all adhesive and tape have been loosened, gently lift the screen free from the frame.
  • The panel should come off cleanly if the edges were fully separated.
  • Be cautious not to tug on the main flex cable connecting the screen to the motherboard.

Disconnect the Main Flex Cable

  • Locate the flex cable linking the LCD to the motherboard.
  • Disconnect it carefully by lifting the latch or removing the connector.
  • Set the broken LCD panel aside in a safe location.

Examine the Internal Layout

  • The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra includes a large 11,200mAh battery and four high-performance speakers.
  • Only the LCD needs to be replaced; no other internal parts require removal.
  • Note that this tablet also includes a daughterboard near the lower connectors.

Remove the Old Adhesive Strips

  • Remove all old Island tape from the four edges of the display housing.
  • Clean the surface thoroughly to ensure the new adhesive will bond securely.
  • Samsung recommends always replacing adhesive when reassembling.

Apply Fresh Adhesive

  • Use U 3M double-sided tape or OEM Samsung Island tape (available on our website).
  • Apply new tape to the four designated areas previously covered with adhesive.
  • Ensure it’s aligned evenly to avoid screen lift or misfit issues.

Prepare the New LCD

  • Take your OEM replacement screen and inspect it for dust or defects.
  • Make sure the flex cables are aligned properly before installing.
  • Handle the screen from the sides to avoid leaving fingerprints on the digitizer.

Apply B7000 Glue

  • Add a thin, even layer of B7000 glue around the entire frame’s edge.
  • Be sure not to overapply, as excess glue can seep into internal components.
  • This adhesive will help restore water and dust resistance.

Install and Align the New Display

  • Connect the flex cable of the new LCD to the motherboard securely.
  • Lower the display gently into the frame and align it with the corners.
  • Press lightly around all edges to ensure an even, sealed fit.

Inspect for Dust and Gaps

  • Before finalizing the seal, check all edges for dust or debris that could prevent proper contact.
  • Re-seat the screen if needed until it is perfectly flush with the housing.
  • Let the adhesive cure for several minutes before powering on.

Power On and Test the Tablet

  • Turn on the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra and check the screen’s display and touch responsiveness.
  • Verify that the digitizer and LCD are functioning as expected.
  • If everything looks good, the repair is complete!

CONCLUSION:

The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is one of the largest and most premium tablets available, which makes screen replacement a high-stakes task. With its thin bezel and massive 14-inch LCD, using plastic tools and precise technique is essential. Always take your time during disassembly and ensure proper alignment during reassembly. With the right tools, OEM parts, and a steady hand, your device will be back to working like new.
