Tools You Need
For this repair, you will need a Phillips screwdriver, thermal paste, and all the components listed in the build including an ASRock B760M ITX motherboard, Intel i5-13400 processor, DDR4 RAM, a Samsung SSD, an ID-Cooling 45mm low-profile CPU cooler, a 300W PSU, SATA cables, and two 3.5-inch hard drives.

Unbox and Prepare the Motherboard
- Open the motherboard box and remove the board along with all included accessories.
- Set the motherboard on a safe, static-free surface for component installation.
- Keep the socket cover in case of future motherboard returns.

Install the Processor
- Open the ILM socket latch and align the processor using the triangle markers.
- Gently drop the processor into the socket and close the ILM.
- The socket cover will pop off during this process—keep it for RMA purposes.
Deploy the Boot SSD
- Insert the 512GB Samsung M.2 SSD into the designated M.2 slot on the board.
- Use the included screw to secure the SSD in place firmly.
Set up the RAM
- Open both RAM slot clips and align the RAM module notches correctly.
- Push the RAM straight down into the DIMM slots until you hear a click.
- Repeat the process for the second 16GB stick for a total of 32GB DDR4 3200MHz.
Mount the CPU Cooler
- Choose the Intel bracket hardware from the cooler kit (labeled LGA 1700).
- Attach the brackets to the cooler and apply thermal paste to the CPU (one long line with two dots).
- Peel the plastic film off the cooler base and install it with the heat pipes facing down.
- Hold the cooler in place, flip the board, and secure the backplate screws.
Route the CPU Fan Cable
- Plug the fan cable into the CPU fan header on the motherboard (far right side).
- Route the cable neatly underneath the cooler to prevent interference.

Prepare the Case and Install the IO Shield
- Open the case and remove all unnecessary cables from the way.
- Identify and install the IO shield, verifying correct orientation by matching it to the motherboard.

Install the Motherboard into the Case
- Align the motherboard with the standoffs and rear IO shield.
- Secure the board in place using a Phillips screwdriver and the case screws.
Connect Front Panel Cables
- Locate the JFP1 header and connect the front panel pins (power switch, reset, LED, etc.).
- Use the motherboard manual to verify correct pin alignment for each connector.

Connect USB and Audio Headers
- Plug the USB front panel cable into its designated slot (match the dead pin).
- Connect the HD Audio cable to the rear motherboard header, again using the dead pin for alignment.

Plug in CPU Power
- Route and connect the 8-pin EPS CPU power cable to the top left of the board.
- Tuck the cable neatly away from the cooler for optimal airflow.

Install 3.5″ Hard Drives
- Slide the first 4TB NAS-grade drive into the front drive bay.
- Mount the second drive in the 5.25″ bay typically reserved for DVD drives.
- Secure both drives using screws or brackets as needed.
Connect SATA Cables
- Use straight SATA data cables for both drives.
- Replace any right-angle cables that do not fit correctly with straight connectors.

Provide SATA Power
- Connect SATA power from the pre-installed 300W PSU to both hard drives.
- Manage cables loosely since this workstation will be frequently modified.

Final Cable Management and 24-Pin Power
- Install the 24-pin motherboard power connector.
- Perform light cable management—just enough to keep airflow clear while allowing future adjustments.

Power On and Test
- Plug the system into power and press the power button.
- Check for fan movement and boot indicators to confirm successful build.
